I’m so very sorry.
Our trust unraveled into silence,
Giving way to uncertainty.
There was nowhere left to turn—
Our love became a rising wall,
A wall of deep resentment.
No one can save me now;
The damage is already done.
I can’t blame you
For your anger and your bitterness—
I never imagined
It would be our babysitter.
Please—don’t blame yourself.
You’ve been a good wife,
You gave your all
To build us a good life.

Written during a creative writing class at Stanford University in 2021, this poem was written as an exploration of emotional distance and the quiet unraveling that can happen in intimate relationships. Though inspired by real feelings, it is a work of fiction.
