Poems From The Kitchen Table

The world is charged with miracles
From sunrise to sunset,
From mountains to oceans,
From conception to birth,
From seed to harvest,
From the physical to the mystical.

Don’t seek the light outside;
There is a light within you.
The promised land
It lives within you.
Everything you’ve been searching for
Has always been within you.

You may never understand life;
But accepting it
That’s your best shot.
And then,
Innocence becomes the doorway to life.

Do you like apples?
That’s reason enough to eat them.
Life is beautiful.
Life is generous.
And that
That is reason enough to live it.

I wrote this poem as part of an assignment for The Poet’s Way, a class I took in the Spring of 2020–2021. It was inspired by a quiet morning that reminded me the world is still charged with miracles… if we’re paying attention.
